1. Great Pacific War

The Pacific Theater sequel to Third Reich, Great Pacific War uses the same game system and scale to present a game that's playable by itself or in tandem with Third Reich. Two to four players represent the United States, Japan, Britain and the Soviet Union. The map area is huge, matching the fun factor. Will Japan concentrate on China, strike the Soviet Union first, or re-create Pearl Harbor? Will the United States favor the Nimitz strategy in the Central Pacific, or back MacArthur's push through New Guinea and the Philippines? And can Japan achieve victory before the atomic bomb falls?

Avalanche Press naval games expand into the southern hemisphere with Cone of Fire, our game of South American naval conflict. It comes with playing pieces representing the fleets of Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Peru, and lets players fight actions as varied as the Beagle Channel Crisis at the turn of the century, the destruction of Admiral Graf Spee’s German East Asia Squadron off the Falkland Islands in World War I, and the hunt for the pocket battleship that bore Graf Spee’s name in World War II.

7. Island of Death: The Invasion of Malta, 1942

In the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, the British-held island of Malta continually interrupted Axis efforts to supply their troops in North Africa. Therefore, they hatched plans (know to the Germans as Operation Hercules, and to the Italians as Operation C.3) to conquer the small fortress. Island of Death uses the same game system as Alamein to re-create this battle that never happened, based on the actual plans of all participants. German and Italian paratroopers meet British and Maltese battalions in a fight to the death.
